Lights and Sounds: Pools Designed for Parties

Adding facilities like outdoor sound and lighting systems can transform your swimming pool from just a hole in the ground into a relaxing oasis. After installing lights for ambience, use outdoor speakers to add some music and you will create an outdoor space that can be used for parties and enjoyed far into the evening.

Why Add Outdoor Lighting to Your Yard and Pool Area
While some people have lap pools that were installed only for exercise, others (most) want their pool to serve as an entertainment hub. Pools are often paired with an outdoor kitchen, a spacious deck, a fire pit, water features, a hot tub, and other features around which family and friends can congregate. Candles, solar landscapes, and overhead chandeliers can provide the needed nighttime visibility without the glare of spotlights. Properly positioned LED lights (available in many colors) can add a dramatic touch to your yard and poolside area. Colored lights that reflect the water can be installed into the edges of the pool or floating pool globes can be added for an additional flair.

As well as lights that light up the backyard, the water can also be illuminated by installing lights beneath the surface of the swimming pool. Thirty foot long pools usually have at least 1 or 2 LED lights, while longer pools can have 3, or more. Sometimes, incandescent and fiber optic lights are used, but LEDs, which have a long lifespan, produce no heat, and have no filaments, are the norm. Lights installed in and around pools should always be carefully chosen as they are constantly exposed to water and the elements. The contractor who is in charge of your pool design can help with choosing, selecting, and installing your outdoor lighting system.

While you don’tt have to install backyard lights at the same time as the pool, installing them together will make creating a synchronized lighting system easier. On the other hand, lights in the pool ought to be installed during the pool’s construction. Your pool designer / contractor can offer these as an option when designing and building your pool and is in the best position to properly install them, in order to meet safety standards and local building codes.

Liven up The Night

You’ll need a wired or wireless outdoor stereo system to get sound distributed throughout your backyard. There are many products on the market today which are built to remain in place between parties while also remaining unobtrusive. A sound system is also helpful if you intend to add a TV. If your yard is a place where you relax to watch sports, movies, etc., then pairing a water resistant television with your sound system will provide an excellent listening and viewing experience.

Selective Designs can install your outdoor light and sound system. We’ll suggest the proper system to suit your backyard style and size which will clearly transmit sound and create different moods throughout your yard.

Pool and Yard Design: Complementing Each Other

Getting a pool can be a wonderful addition to any home. Not only does it bring a new form of entertainment, it can also enhance the look of the yard. However, a pool cannot do this alone. Pools and yards go hand in hand, and when bringing in a pool, you should also think about how it fits in the overall yard design.
